Barmera is home to the magnificent, natural, freshwater “Lake Bonney,” first discovered on a cattle drove by Charles Bonney and Joseph Hawdon in 1838. With a plethora of activities from fishing to jet ski hire and accommodation centered around the lake, it is a fantastic place to live and holiday for people of all ages. The Barmera Caravan Park is right on the Lake front and is the perfect spot for family holidays in Summer. The gentle slope of the lake bank makes this safer for small children. Bike riding around the lake is a regular activity for the health conscious and a spot of fishing from Naper’s Bridge for those that want to relax. Plenty of shopping is offered in Barmera with one of the best Bakeries around.
